In a dramatic turn of events, the former PNP chief-turned-senator earlier filed his Certificate of Candidacy as he vies for the highest position in the government.

He will go against presidential candidates such as; Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, and Senator Ping Lacson.

The senator will run under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan or PDP-Laban with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go as his vice-presidential running mate.

Following his candidacy, he earned massive criticism with some questioning his intention to run the said post.

But in an interview with ANC, he said: “Who are you to judge my intention. It is only me na makakasagot nyan kung gusto ko ba o hindi.”

“The mere fact that I filed my COC is an overt manifestation of my clear intention to be the president of this Republic,” he added.

Previously, Bato dela Rosa admitted that he was only told to file his candidacy a few hours before the deadline for filing the certificate of candidacy (COC) last October 8.

He said running for the presidency does not mean “long-term” intentions because it can be done at the last minute.

Earlier, Bato dela Rosa said that he was ready to give way to Mayor Sara in case the latter decides to run for the presidency.
