Meet the barber who uses hair and head for his artwork
ANTHONY BANZUELA – A barber from Camarines Norte who uses hair and head for his artwork earned praises online.
Instead of painting on canvas, he uses the human head and hair as his material to create art.
Among his works are Last Supper, Praying Hands, and Darth Vader images which seemed to be imprinted on the head of his customers.
According to the report of Dapat Alam Mo! of GMA News and Public Affairs, Anthony works as a barber for 10 years already.
Using his imagination, he was able to come up with artwork using the hair and head of a person as a canvas.
“Minsan kulang yung gamit ko, kulang din yung mga pag-ano ko, mga pintura. Kumbaga, hindi hadlang yung wala kang gamit, e, kumbaga, nandiyan yung buhok,” he explained.
He also creates portraits using the cut hairs from his customers.
First, he will make a light sketch, then, using glue, he will use the hair to form the image.
Anthony said he was inspired to do this because he has customers creating portraits using cut hair.
On the other hand, the Philippine Star reported that Anthony started his hair art or “hair tattoo” in 2016.
Because he loves art, Anthony is said to be challenging himself to what he can do, and one of the first things he did was Last Supper.
When he opened his barbershop in 2020, he mimicked the famous painting on the customer’s head.
“Sa lahat po na ginawa kong hair tattoo, dito lang po ako sobrang natagalan. First time ko po na gumawa ng ganitong Last Supper,” he said.
He allegedly spent nine hours finishing it.
Before becoming a barber, Anthony was said to really love to sketch and paint. So when he became a barber, he applied his talent in art.
