Lei Jun even met with the province’s top government officials during his visit to Jilin, which included Jing Junhai, the secretary of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The reason for the said visit, as the senior executive of the Chinese tech giant said, was to strengthen the cooperation with Jilin automotive enterprises and to better solidify an automobile production foundation as well.

According to Secretary Jing, Jilin had a strong scientific research strength, good industrial foundation, and sufficient talent reserve.

Therefore, the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of automobile manufacturing has broad prospects. I hope Xiaomi can strengthen cooperation with FAW as well as Jilin’s auto industry chain,” Secretary Jing said.

Lei Jun had reportedly visited the Great Wall Motor’s Research and Development Center in China in the past.

Gizmochina reported that the recent move was in line with Xiaomi’s plans on setting up a supply chain and relation with different car brands before the production of its own car.

Based on the report, Xiaomi expects to sell 900,000 vehicles in the first 3 years after its initial release.
