LIBERAL PARTY – The liberal democratic political party named its five (5) initial bets in the 2022 Senatorial elections.

LP held its virtual National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, September 28.

Among those who attended the said meeting are Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Francis Pangilinan, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, Representative Kit Belmonte, and former Reps. Teddy Baguilat and Erin Tañada.

Liberal Party is endorsing Pangilinan, Sen. Leila de Lima, and former Sen. Bam Aquino as the party’s senatorial candidates. A resolution was also passed endorsing Sen. Risa Hontiveros and Atty. Chel Diokno.

The political party also supported Robredo’s step to form a coalition, as well as empowering her to form a united ticket of candidates for the 2022 national elections.

Meanwhile, the Liberal Party also passed a resolution recognizing the late President Noynoy Aquino.

Among those who seek a position in the Senate are Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, and Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

While those who recently announced their presidential bid are Senators Manny Pacquiao, Ping Lacson, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

On the other hand, those who have shown interest in running for the 2022 elections in the vice-presidential slate are Senator Tito Sotto and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

The filing of certificates of candidacies will be from October 1 up to October 8, 2021, while the campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022.

The 2022 election is scheduled to be held on May 9.
