It was on Wednesday, September 22, Isko Moreno, a former actor-turned-politician formally announced his candidacy for the 2022 presidential elections. It was held at the Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.

He will run for the highest position in the country alongside his running mate Dr. Willie Ong.

In his speech that lasted for thirty (30) minutes, he chides at the administration particularly its response to the pandemic.

He also outlined his difference from those seeking to run for higher positions in the government.

Meanwhile, during an interview with ANC on Friday, September 24, Isko Moreno said that he’s willing to give Duterte a position in the Cabinet if he’s elected as president of the Republic of the Philippines.

According to him, he’s willing to do as such out of respect.

The actor-turned-politician cited he like what he did when he won the 2019 mayoralty race, he will reach out to his political rivals.

“I did that in Manila, I placed people of opposing sides in the same department, and look what it brought us,” he said adding the economic growth of the country’s capital from P20 billion to P30 billion a year, investment at P123 billion in the first year and P147 billion in the 2nd year.

Duterte has previously declared that he will be running for vice president in the upcoming polls under the Cusi-led PDP-Laban faction.

The filing of certificates of candidacies will be from October 1 up to October 8, 2021, while the campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022.
