IATF Mulls Legal Action vs. Person Who Leaked Footage From One Of Its Meetings — Roque

The IATF has discussed the possibility of filing a case against the person who leaked the footage from one of its meetings, according to Roque.

On Monday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has discussed the possibility of filing a case against the person who leaked the footage from one of its meetings.

In a Presidential press briefing on Monday, Roque believed that the person responsible for leaking footage of his “outburst” can be liable for violating the Data Privacy Act.

The said footage was posted on Twitter by Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter Marlon Ramos.

Sa tingin ko po liable at liable din po for revealing public secrets. Pero hahayaan ko na po ‘yan sa IATF. ‘Yan naman po ay napag-usapan kanina sa IATF,” Roque said.

Roque’s statement came after he was caught having an “outburst” against medical personnel during a meeting with some members of the Inter-Agency Task Force last week.

The Palace official initially said that the proceedings in IATF meetings were supposed to be secret so as to allow for an honest debate among the members.

Roque later confirmed the leaked footage and explained that he became emotional as he spoke for the “hungry and lockdown-weary” Filipinos.

His “outburst” trended on social media and had caused Filipinos to call for his resignation or for President Rodrigo Duterte to fire him, along with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

However, Roque said on Monday that his stint in government wasn’t up to his critics. According to him, only the President can fire him and Duque.

Meanwhile, Roque said that he’s in New York for his nomination to be a member of the International Law Commission (ILC), an advisory body to the United Nations (UN).

Wala pong sweldo,” Roque said.
