Elderly woman in Taguig arrested after she was seized with illegal drugs
TAGUIG – An elderly woman was arrested in the said city after being seized with P1 million worth of suspected illegal drugs.
According to Taguig police, the Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation in Brazil Street, Barangay Napindan after receiving information regarding the illegal activities of an alias “Madam” who’s allegedly involved with the drug trade in the area.
A poseur buyer bought the drug from the elderly woman and after the transaction, the suspect was arrested immediately.
Three (3) sachets of suspected shabu weighing 150 grams worth P1 million were seized from 72-year-old elderly woman alias Madam.
Aside from the illegal drugs, she was also found out possessing an illegal firearm and ammunition.
The authorities are now trying to figure out who’s the supplier of the elderly woman and if she’s involved with other crimes since she was caught with a gun and ammunition.
The suspect faces charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Under the R.A. 9165, anyone guilty of importation or sale of dangerous drugs, with the manufacture of illegal drugs, or with the operation of a drug den can be punished with life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from ₱500,000 to ₱10,000,000.
The maximum penalty is given if the sale or delivery was done within 100 meters of a school, if a minor was directly involved in the process of handling dangerous drugs, or if the victim of the offense is a mentally incapacitated individual.
