In a statement, Malacañang stated that President Duterte received Ambassador Pruce, the outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in a farewell call in Malacañang.

The President congratulated Ambassador Pruce for a successful tour of duty, crediting him for the revitalization of the United Kingdom’s political and economic presence in the Philippines through high-level dialogues and exchanges.

President Duterte conferred on Ambassador Pruce the Order of Sikatuna, Rank of Datu (Grand Cross), Gold Distinction, for his accomplishments,” said Malacañang in a statement.

President Duterte also thanked the British government for the donation of 415,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses that contributed to the country’s ongoing vaccination program.

The President cited Ambassador Pruce’s personal role in improving COVID-19 vaccine access for the Philippines eventually leading to the conclusion of the innovative Tripartite Agreement between local government units (LGUs), GPH, and the private sector for the procurement of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, Malacañang said that President Duterte called for the finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Recruitment of Filipino Healthcare Professionals in order to ensure “fair, ethical, and sustainable” recruitment and employment of Filipino healthcare professionals in the United Kingdom.
