Malacañang to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno: “We hope that he gets well soon.”
Malacañang had expressed hope that Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso will soon recover as he had recently tested positive for COVID-19.
On Monday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in his regular press briefing that Malacañang wished Moreno good health and hoped that he got well soon.
Roque, who himself had previously tested positive for COVID-19 twice, surmised that Moreno’s coronavirus infection will only be moderate since he’s already vaccinated against COVID-19 and that Moreno’s hospitalization could just be a precaution.
“’Yang karanasan ni Yorme ngayon, sa tingin ko precaution ‘yung kanyang pagho-hospital pero sa tingin ko siguro moderate ang magigng kaso niya, hindi na siya magiging kritikal dahil bakunado na siya,” Roque said.

Roque’s statement came despite the seeming tension between President Rodrigo Duterte and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
The Manila Public Information Office confirmed on Sunday that Moreno had tested positive for COVID-19 and was consequently sent to Sta. Ana Hospital for treatment.
According to Sta. Ana Hospital Director Dr. Grace Padilla, Moreno was experiencing mild symptoms of COVID-19 such as “mild colds, coughs, and body malaise.” Padilla also said that Moreno has no fever.
Last week, President Duterte chided a city government for being “disorganized” in the distribution of government “ayuda” prompting him to take away the local authorities’ power to distribute the financial aid.
While the President didn’t directly name the city and the mayor, President Duterte claimed that the local chief executive had old photos circulating online, leading to speculations that the President was referring to Moreno.
Moreno thanked President Duterte for the cash assistance despite the seeming tension between him and the President, saying that the distribution in Manila City would proceed as planned.
