PH Government Awards Hidilyn Diaz, 3 Other Filipino Winners in Tokyo Olympics
HIDILYN DIAZ – The Olympics winners who bagged medals for the Philippines received incentives and awards from the national government.
The Philippines was victorious in the recent Olympics that was held in Tokyo. Four (4) of the Filipino athletes bagged medals in their sports categories.
Filipino boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam brought home silver medals for the country. Another Pinoy boxer in the Olympics, Eumir Marcial, bagged a bronze medal for PH.
This year, the Philippines bagged its first gold medal in the Olympics as Hidilyn Diaz stood out in weightlifting. Their winnings and as well as the unwavering efforts of the other Filipino athletes in the international game event brought so much honor and pride to the Filipinos.
Recently, Hidilyn Diaz and the three (3) other Filipino athletes who bagged medals in Tokyo Olympics were gathered in Malacañang. They were given incentives for their wins.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the ceremony and congratulated the athletes “for bringing pride and honor” to the Philippines and giving the Filipinos a boost amid the challenging situation now due to the pandemic.
Olympics gold medalist for weightlifting Hidilyn Diaz received P3 million from the Office of the President, P15 million from the Philippine Sports Commission and PAGCOR, a Presidential Medal of Merit, and a housing unit.
The Office of the President gave boxers Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio P2 million each. They also received P5 million each from the PSC and a housing unit from National Housing Authority.
Boxer Eumir Marcial who bagged bronze in the Olympics received P1 million from the Office of the President, P2 million from PSC, and a housing unit.
Pres. Duterte stressed that the success of the athletes will serve as a motivation to Filipino youths who aspire to be like them and the young ones to focus their energies on sports and other worthwhile activities.
