Filipino street food in New York
A Filipino street food vendor in New York named Robin John Calalo is earning P800K a month for selling isaw, betamax and more.
If there’s one thing that you must try in the Philippines, it’s probably the iconic street foods- from barbecue to pork intestines to smoothies which are available almost everywhere.
Unfortunately, you cannot find it on the streets of the Big Apple or New York in the US.
But not anymore, thanks to Robin John Calalo also known as Boy Isaw.
Robin, who is fondly called Boy Isaw started his business in 2019.
He sells Pinoy street foods such as betamax, adidas (chicken feet), helmet (chicken head), of course isaw (pork intestines) and to name a few.
According to him, he was in the market and is craving Filipino street food when he thought about doing such business.
He started with a capital of $50 or P2,500.
Eventually, he sells a stick of Pinoy barbecue for $3.50 or P175 with an additional $2 or P100 when the order comes with rice on the side.
His business grew and Filipinos, as well as foreign nationals, get to taste the iconic street foods via food fairs and Pinoy restaurants Amazing Grace and Tradisyon.
Aside from that, he also sells ready-to-grill barbecues.
At press time, he is earning as much as P200,000 per week by selling street foods.
“I’m so thankful that I’m giving happiness and joy, not only to my fellow Filipino people but also to different races through my Filipino barbecue,” he said.
