At the age of 19, John Andrew Dangca started working as a hotel, mall, and office cleaner when he arrived in Australia in 2013.

According to the report of “State of the Nation,” he worked as a janitor at the same time studying Diploma in Disability.

Dangca completed his education and worked as a disability support worker in a care facility for the elderly while he was a janitor.

Eventually, he thought of having his own restaurant to take his family to Australia.

And in 2020 at the age of 25, Dangca already had his own Filipino restaurant in the Australian capital Canberra which he called “Salu-Salo”.

Among the dishes served at his restaurant are chicken and pork adobo, sinigang, tinola, dinuguan, pansit, palabok and street foods such as isaw and fish ball.

“Hindi po talaga ganoon kadali sa umpisa. Mararanasan natin ‘yung mga failures, ‘yung mga challenges, pero sa bandang huli, makakamit po (ang tagumpay),” he said.
