Here are some of the comments of several Facebook users about the gemstone via GMA News:

While some are sharing their amazement over the crystal, others suggest returning it to nature.

Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. It is a semiprecious stone that is often used in jewelry.

The Greeks believed that it could prevent intoxication while medieval European soldiers wore amethyst amulets as protection in battle in the belief that it heal people and keep them cool-headed.

Amethyst was included in the most valuable, gemstones (along with diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald). However, since the discovery of extensive deposits in locations such as Brazil, it has lost most of its value.

The biggest factor in the value of amethyst is the color displayed whether it would be purple, violet, dark purple

The highest-grade amethyst is called “Deep Russian” but it is exceptionally rare and its value is dependent on the demand of collectors.
