According to Velasco, what matters is that people vote for them.

“I don’t think naman na garapal ‘yan… because it’s still up to the voters whether they’ll vote for a Duterte-Duterte tandem,” he said in an interview.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is one of the most pressing presidential candidates while her father, incumbent president Rodrigo Duterte is said to be running for VP.

The two topped the previous Pulse Asia survey.

Velasco said that he did not see anything wrong with the political dynasty.

“I guess the political dynasty has its bad connotation maybe because when we see dynasty before, in the past, nothing has been happening in the said district so that’s why I guess there’s really a negative connotation that people don’t want a dynasty,” he said.

“So I don’t really see a problem as to dynasties or from the same family serving our country and again, like what I said, it’s up to the voters if they will vote for a Duterte-Duterte tandem,” he added.

Velasco’s father who is a former Supreme Court Associate Justice is currently the governor of Marinduque.
