Only Representative Paolo Duterte will be attending SONA from President Duterte’s family.
Davao City first congressional district Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte will be the only member of the First Family that will attend President Rodrigo Duterte’s last State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Rep. Paolo Duterte confirmed his attendance at the State of the Nation Address, saying that it was his duty as a congressman to attend the annual address. He added that he will be attending the said event together with his wife.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte will not attend the State of the Nation Address. Mayor Sara had already begged off while Vice Mayor Sebastian was still recovering from COVID-19.
According to Mayor Sara, their matriarch, Elizabeth, would also not attend the State of the Nation Address.

The live audience during the President’s last SONA will be limited due to the COVID-19 threat. President Duterte’s SONA last year was historic as it was the first time that a hybrid format was adopted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to House Secretary General Mark Mendoza, the House of Representatives would only allow around 350 people to be physically present at the Batasang Pambansa.
Attendees would be required to undergo COVID-19 RT-PCR test before the State of the Nation Address and a COVID-19 antigen test on the day of the said event.
