Bianca was bashed by a netizen following her reaction to the historic win of the Zamboanga-based weightlifter.

A netizen told her: “Kaya dini discriminate mga babae dahil puro kayo kayo rin mismo ginagawa nyong issue pagiging babae.”

But Bianca clarified her post regarding Hidilyn’s win.

“Kapag sinabi naming Abante babae hindi ibig sabihin na babae lamang ang dapat umabante,” she said.

She explained: “Ilang daang taon na ang kalalakihan ang nabibigyan ng mga oportunidad kaya’t kapag may babaeng nagtatagumpay, ipinagbubunyi natin para mas marami pang kababaihan ang mapagbigyan.”

She continued: “It’s this narrative of ‘kaya dini-discriminate ang mga babae dahil ginagawa ninyong issue ang pagiging babae’ that keeps us from reaching true gender equality.

“We push for women’s empowerment precisely because TOO MANY WOMEN feel like they have no voice and are put into this box.

“Men can be true allies by supporting, encouraging and empowering the women in their lives to do what they want and dream big dreams.

“Hindi yung, ‘eto ka lang kasi babae ka lang.’ Hindi kami ‘babae lang.’ BABAE KAMI,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, Hidilyn Diaz made history as the first-ever Filipino to bag a gold medal in the Olympics in the recently concluded women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.

The country’s pride finished with a total score of 224 kg defeating China’s Liao Qiuyun.

The 30-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga ended the near century-long Olympic gold medal drought of the country since it competed in 1924.
