Reacting to the viral video on a vaccinator who breached COVID-19 vaccination protocols in Makati City, Sotto told Senate media in a Viber message that there were similar complaints from others in other local government units, adding that the IATF should investigate and exercise sanctions.

Sotto also earlier reacted to the videos in his tweet.

A viral video shared on social media showed a health worker in Makati City injecting a needle into the arm of a COVID-19 vaccine recipient without pushing the plunger, causing the contents to remain inside the syringe.

In a previous statement, Makati Mayor Abby Binay apologized and said that it was an honest mistake that had been promptly corrected.

In a report on GMA Network’s “24 Oras”, Eken Afuang Masunaga said that a similar incident happened to him during his vaccination in Mandaluyong.

Matsunaga, however, said that he had no plans to sue the local government, adding that he received proper vaccination from the local government unit after the faulty vaccination.

GMA News Online reported that the Department of Health (DOH) had yet to comment on the botched Mandaluyong vaccination but it earlier mentioned guidelines for vaccination in order to avoid human error.

According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, vaccination teams must limit the work hours and regularly rotate health workers so that they can rest and avoid mistakes.
