Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez announced that she’s open to running for senator in the 2022 elections.
“Yes open but it’s not like it’s part of a grand dream or a grand plan. I have been a legislator for 11 years, if I’m given the opportunity I know I can hit the ground running,” she said.
The wife of actor-politician Richard Gomez, who is a member of the PDP-Laban party has been vocal about her stand in the issues faced by the country particularly in the West Philippine Sea.
“There are people saying dapat lumaban tayo. Mahirap din magtapang-tapangan lang…We have to remember we have to play the long game. More than just fighting, it’s fighting to win,” she said.
On the other hand, while she’s supporting the Anti-Terror Law, Lucy Torres-Gomez stressed that she does not agree with red-tagging.
Meanwhile, several well known personalities have already expressed their interest to join the senatorial bid and one of which is actor/host Luis Manzano who earlier gave a hint of possibly running in next year’s poll.
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is also rooting Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson to running as President with him as the possible vice president.
