Salvador’s career as a film editor began in 1956 until he was given the opportunity to become a film director.

Augusto Salvador was awarded by Fernando Poe Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award at the 30th Luna Awards of the Film Academy of the Philippines on August 26, 2012.

He was the director behind some of the popular movies such as; Bertud ng Putik, Ang Agimat: Anting-anting ni Lolo, Kilabot at Kembot, Alas-dose, Armadong Hudas, Maginoong Barumbado and to name a few.

The remains of the director are in St. Peter’s Chapel, Bangkal, Meycauayan, Bulacan.
