Law dean: “PARA MALINAW LANG NA WALANG PANANAGUTAN SI ANGEL LOCSIN.”
Mel Sta. Maria, the dean of the Institute of Law of Far Eastern University (FEU), said that Angel Locsin is not liable for the death of a senior citizen at a community pantry she organized on her birthday.
On Facebook, the law dean explained that there is no basis for anyone to file charges against the actress.
“PARA MALINAW LANG NA WALANG PANANAGUTAN SI ANGEL LOCSIN. Sabi po ng iba criminal negligence daw ang pwedeng ikaso kay Angel Locsin. Mali po iyon. Ayon sa ating BATAS kriminal, ang reckless imprudence o ang simple negligence ay nagmumula sa ‘ACT’ ( Article 365 of the Revised Penal Code), sa ating wika — KILOS,” he said.
According to Sta. Maria, when a person goes to a place without knowing what will happen, that person, in particular, should be aware of the risks involved.
On the 36th birthday of Angel, she launched a community pantry that benefited the needy residents of Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City.
Unfortunately, chaos raged after a large crowd influx the pantry with some violating the health and safety protocols such as not observing social distancing and not wearing face masks or face shields.
Aside from that, a senior citizen waiting in line fainted and passed away.
Angel Locsin earned negative remarks from netizens following the incident.
