Twenty-four (24) ex-NPA members received P10,000 each in financial assistance from the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) of Agusan del Sur.
The former members of the New People’s Army surrendered to soldiers of the 26th Infantry Battalion.
“Since I returned to the folds of the law, I received a lot of support from the government. This will help me renew my life, together with my family,” said alias “Rey,” an ex-NPA who received P10,000.
He also urged other NPA members to surrender as well and accept the government’s offer.
Lt. Col. Reynald Romel A. Goce promised the remaining NPAs in Agusan del Sur that they will be supported once they leave the communist group.
According to Goce, 74 of the 157 former rebels have already been given benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).
