Saab Magalona revealed that Dr. Gap, the first doctor vaccinated in the country, was the same person who saved the life of her son named Pancho.
Dr. Gerardo Dizon Legaspi a.k.a. Dr. Gap, of the Philippine General Hospital, is the first person inoculated with the vaccine against COVID-19.
In a tweet, she said: “This man saved my son’s life. He performed two successful brain surgeries on Pancho and I am forever grateful,”
“I wish Dr Gap well and pray for the best for the Philippines’ healthcare workers,” she added.
A netizen even asked if the second name of Pancho, came from Dr. Gap.
“Pancho Gerardo named after my lolo Pancho Magalona and his lolo (Jim’s dad) Gerardo “Gerry” Bacarro. It was a coincidence that we met Dr Gap days after his birth,” she clarified.
Last year, Saab Magalona shared in a vlog the first days as her newborn son struggle to survive.
According to her, she was told that the baby won’t last a night. Unfortunately, he lost his twin named Luna.
Doctors eventually performed an emergency C-section on Saab and save Pancho’s life.
Baby Pancho had ventriculitis, sepsis, pulmonary hypertension, and grade 4 intraventricular hemorrhage at the time.
Later on, the 17 days old Pancho underwent brain surgery and one of the doctors who did the procedure was Dr. Gap.
