Palayan City Mayor Rianne Cuevas is in favor of her party’s proposal, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), that President Rodrigo Duterte should run as vice president in the 2022 elections.
Cuevas, secretary-general of the PDP-Laban in Nueva Ecija, believes that this is necessary to continue Duterte’s policies and programs that have caused economic growth.
She further mentioned Duterte’s efforts to develop the economy through the Build Build Build program that created employment amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
So for her, it is important to convince Duterte to run for vice president in order to ensure that the program he has already started will continue.
According to the Palayan mayor, it includes the campaign against drugs, the program to bring lasting peace to Mindanao, and the ongoing campaign against communist rebels.
As the top leader of the PDP-Laban in Nueva Ecija, Cuevas also called on her party members to support the President’s decision on who should be the PDP-Laban presidential candidate in 2022.
