According to him, some parents ask others to answer their child’s self-learning modules in exchange for a fee.

He warned parents participating in such modus that their child’s knowledge will be greatly affected if others make their modules.

The “sagot for sale” scheme was revealed by the Teachers’ Dignity Coalition at the Basic Education Committee hearing chaired by Gatchalian.

“Huwag naman sanang gawin ng mga magulang iyon dahil kawawa ang mga bata. Hindi natin sila natutulungang matuto sa ganyang mga paraan,” the senator said.

DepEd previously reported that nearly 100 percent of the 14 million public school students passed the 1st quarter of School Year 2020-2021.

The data does not include those from Metro Manila, Central Visayas, and BARMM.

In October last year, classes among public and private schools reopened.

Offline and online learning methods are being observed, now that face-to-face classes have been suspended due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In terms of offline learning method, most institution uses learning modules provided by the Department of Education.
