Ei2 Tech, company owned by Paolo Bediones- under fire
PAOLO BEDIONES – The House Assistant Majority Leader and ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Niña Taduran lambasted the company owned by the actor.
“Nasa krisis na nga tayo, may mga nagsasamantala pa sa mga manggagawa sa media, lalo na at wala silang ibang mapasukan sa kasalukuyan. Ang mga kasunduan sa pagtatrabaho ay hindi dapat binabago depende sa kagustuhan lang ng may-ari ng kompanya,” she said.
Taduran made the statement following over alleged irregularities in Ei2 Tech, the company contracted by the Department of Education to produce DepEd TV shows.
Ei2 is owned by actor-host Paolo Bediones.
According to the resolution filed by the Makabayan bloc, Ei2 Tech promised its hired employees that they would be paid monthly but when they started working, it was changed and the payment was made per episode. She also said that the payment was not given on time.
“This is precisely the reason why we at ACT-CIS are pushing for the immediate passage of the Media Workers Welfare Bill. Once a law, it will ensure all media workers the necessary protection as they perform their duties,” she said.
The House of Representatives had already approved the bill on third and final reading in January and it is now pending in the Senate.
Under the proposal, media workers will be paid in accordance with the law, insurance, hazard pay, overtime pay, and other benefits.
Taduran was a TV and radio broadcaster before becoming a congresswoman.
