COVID-19 Vaccinated OFW Tested Positive for Coronavirus

COVID-19 VACCINATED OFW – A Filipino worker who was vaccinated against coronavirus in United Arab Emirates (UAE) tested positive for the disease in Mandaue City.

Currently, several nations are still on a fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. This coronavirus disease has infected a lot of people in over 200 nations and territories across the globe.

The Philippines is one of the countries that recorded cases of COVID-19. The pandemic has even brought a lot of changes in PH on the people’s way of living and the way education is delivered to the students.

Face-to-face classes are still prohibited amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are being educated under blended learning through modules and online classes.

It is now a protocol that everyone must wear a face mask when going outdoors. Also, social distancing must be practiced most especially in public areas.

Foreign travelers and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returning to the country must undergo a quarantine upon arrival to the country. They must also undergo swab testing.

Recently, a COVID-19 vaccinated OFW from United Arab Emirates (UAE) went home and underwent swab testing as part of the protocol. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the migrant worker tested positive for COVID-19 in Mandaue City.

The said COVID-19 vaccinated OFW has received two doses of China’s Sinopharm vaccine. According to Department of Health Central Visayas Chief Pathologist and spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, even people who are already vaccinated may contract the disease.

“It doesn’t mean na hindi ka na pwedeng ma-infect,” she expressed.

Based on the report, the migrant worker is asymptomatic or showing no symptoms of COVID-19. Also, the patient’s household members who contracted the disease are asymptomatic. They are all under quarantine now.

Loreche reminded the public not to be afraid of getting vaccinated. According to her, it is notable that the disease of the vaccinated patient did not get severe.
