Netizens Question “Sumuko Na NPA” Photos Of PNP

SUMUKO NA NPA – Netizens across several social media platforms question the recent photo-op of the Philippine National Police.

Yesterday, an alleged 30 members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the authorities. However, despite being part of the NPA, netizens notice how most of these individuals were “well-off”.

Some even went as far as saying:

“NPA daw pero tiyan pang SPO1”.
“Sana lahat ng NPA may sasakyan”
“Bili muna bago sapatos bago mag surrender”

Recently, a netizen on Facebook named Alvin Rosanto emphasized his curious thoughts regarding the photos. He highlighted how most of the surrendered NPA members had their own cars, expensive-looking watches, and brand new shoes.

Meanwhile, the PNP said that these members of the NPA surrendered because they were tired of contributing 10% of their salaries.

They are working hard on their jobs, and yet they are forced to give 10 percent of their salaries every month. So they were the milking cows“, said National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Police Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr.

Still, this isn’t the first time netizens called out authorities for their “NPA Surrendered” posts. Last year, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) posted a photoshopped image of NPA surrenderees in Masbate.

So, netizens continue to question the authenticity of the more recent “NPA surrenderees”. Furthermore, Redditors went as far as to say that these “surrenderees” were likely CAFGU Soldiers of members of the AFP-funded paramilitary groups.

Moreover, one netizen noted how there is a link between “fake surrenderees” and “corruption”. With the Enhanced Community Livelihood and Integration Program (E-CLIP), members of the Communist Party of the Philippines and the NPA can get incentives for surrendering.

Under the E-CLIP those who give themselves up can receive roughly P65,000 to aid them in “starting over”. However, some groups claimed authorities “invent rebels” to cash out the P65,000 livelihood package themselves.
