BFAR Warns of Red Tide in Some Areas

Red tide in some areas according to BFAR

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) warned the public of paralytic shellfish poison or red tide in some areas.

According to BFAR, Honda and Puerto Princesa Bays in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan is positive for paralytic shellfish poison.

The coastal areas of Inner Malampaya Sound, Taytay in Palawan are also positive for paralytic shellfish poison as well as Sorsogon Bay in Sorsogon; Coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Tambobo Bay, Sianton in Negros Oriental; Daram Island, Zumarraga, and Cambatutay in Western Samar; Calubian, Leyte, Carigara Bay, and Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City in Leyte; Biliran Islands; Guiuan and Matarimao Bay in Eastern Samar; Balite Bay, Mati City in Davao Oriental; Lianga bay and Coastal waters in Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur; and Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur.

San Pedro Bay in Western Samar is also positive for red tide toxin.

According to BFAR, all shellfish and other kinds of seafood caught in the above-mentioned areas are not safe to eat.

Meanwhile, there is no red tide in the ocean of Milagros in Masbate.
