Store Operators Says ‘Christmas Rush’ in Supermarkets Expected Next Week
Several store operators expect Christmas rush in the supermarkets and grocery stores nationwide within the next few days.
Over the past few decades, a lot of Filipino people were used to troop supermarkets and grocery stores to buy foods for Noche Buena and Media Noche, which has been already a part of Philippines culture and tradition.
However, the coronavirus disease continues to spread in different countries all around the world causing fear and panic to the people. Some residents are hesitating to go outside fearing that they might contract the virus.
Some operators are already expecting customers to troop in supermarkets and grocery stores next week. The operators conclude that a lot of employees most likely to receive their 13th month.
“Most likely magpi-peak naman ‘yan with the coming days kasi customers naman magpa-patronize at magpa-patronize pa rin kasi tuloy pa rin naman ang Pasko,” Savemore Operations Manager Joy Luansing said.
Previously, a group of supermarkets expressed their concern regarding the sales due to the lesser number of customers because of the coronavirus pandemic and poverty.
