NAPOLCOM had demoted Jonel Nuezca one rank over a 2014 case.
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) had demoted Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca one rank over an extortion case in 2014.
This, as Nuezca was a police officer who was responsible for fatal shooting in Paniqui, Tarlac.
DILG Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya, the Undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), confirmed Nuezca’s demotion on Tuesday as he answered in affirmative when asked if this was due to Nuezca’s extortion case in 2014.
In a report on Super Radyo dzBB, Nuezca was demoted to police master sergeant from police senior master sergeant.
This was because Nuezca allegedly extorted money from a passenger and a tricycle driver while he’s still assigned at the Tactical Motorcycle Unit in Taguig last 2014.

GMA Network’s “24 Oras” reported that Nuezca and a partner cop had nabbed a passenger and a tricycle driver during a routine inspection after finding illegal drugs and weapons in their possession.
The passenger and driver were taken to the precinct wherein the alleged extortion took place.
“Allegedly, in exchange for their temporary freedom, ‘yung hinuli nila na nasa tricyle, hinihingan nila ng pera. Hindi lang nakalagay kung magkano ‘yung exact amount na hinihingi nila,” according to Atty. Chito Noel Bustonera, the acting chief of NAPOLCOM Legal Affairs Service.
