Hospital in Iloilo under lockdown due to COVID-19 infections

A hospital in the province of Iloilo has been placed under lockdown after its personnel and medical staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Pedro Trono Memorial District Hospital, which is owned and managed by the Hospital Management Office (HMO) of the Iloilo Provincial government was under lockdown since December 24.

According to the report of Manila Bulletin as per data retrieved from HMO, 13 nurses contracted the dreaded disease placing the hospital under a 10-day lockdown which is meant for contact tracing.

The 15 infected hospital staff including a nursing attendant and hospital staff are required to undergo swab testing and isolation.

Aside from that, the hospital will be closed for disinfection.

Meanwhile, as of December 25, Iloilo province has a total of 2,977 cases of COVID-19.

COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.

With the rapid increase of coronavirus disease 2019 cases, leaders of different nations are doing their all in order to combat the spread of the deadly virus which started in Wuhan, China in 2019.

Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, wearing masks especially in public places, and using disinfectant from time to time if possible.
