Here is the full post:

7 months ago, I was fortunate to go home to my Papa who was stricken with cancer and be with him for a week until his last breath.

Papa was already a little disoriented and so I tried to talk to him face to face looking straight to his eyes and I said, “Pa niuli ko para nimo Papa I miss you”.. And he replied “Thank you, NAK!” with a soft and the usual voice I love to hear from him. I got teary eyed. It was the last time that he was able to talk clearly to me.

1 day before my Papa died, even with a decreased sensorium, he was shouting “Ginoo ko tabangi ko”, “Lord Jesus Christ”, over and over again and it was all about Jesus. To my surprise, while I was singing one of Don Moen’s songs which was actually his favorite: 🎶“Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be…..” Then he joined me as he sang “Thy Name”. My mom and I were very shocked. Yes it was only 1 line but it was so heartwarming.

It was even more difficult for us because my sisters cannot travel back home due to COVID protocol. Yes, ECQ intawon to nga time 😭 Ug tungod kay naay videocall, didto ra gyud sila naka say goodbye kay Papa.

So, to those who still have their parents with them. Always make them feel that they are special… that you love them. Even if you cannot say thru words but at least thru actions. It is really not easy that one of the reasons why you strived hard is already gone. I have seen in my med career how disease ravages through loved ones physically, emotionally and psychologically.. even spiritually.

To those reading this that have lost their loved ones, be it long ago or recently, I pray that you seek for God’s comfort because as for my experience, He has sustained me everyday. Promise. There is still grief but the happiness, teachings and memories of my papa will last a lifetime and will always be treasured.
We still need to continue living for God’s glory!

My words may not give you comfort but I truly believe that God’s words are much better and would greatly help you as it has amazingly helped me. As Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” and in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

To those who will be taking the board exam soon, ako jud ma ingon is to COMMIT EVERYTHING TO GOD gyud kay unpredictable jud ang exam 😭 Always seek Him first in everything ❤️

When we asked my papa, did he ever questioned God why he had this cancer, why he needed to suffer and go thru this pain. He just answered “Ayaw gyud mo pag question sa Ginoo kay iyahang wisdom dili jud matungkad, kita nga mga tao lumalabay lamang, time lang jud ang galahi.”
To trust in God’s plans because He is the all knowing and source of everything.
Doctor nako Pa! Sorry wala ka nakaabot.
Tuloy gyapon ang laban
🙏🏻

All praise to God ❤️

P. S. Took a photo wearing a white coat before going to CDO for the exam kay nag anticipate nako kay kabalo jud ko naa ang Ginoo nagauban nako 🥺 Thank you for whispering to Papa Jesus, pa… ❤️
