IATF would discuss the proposed ban on Christmas street caroling, Malacañang said.
Malacañang said that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) would soon discuss the proposal to prohibit Christmas street caroling in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a virtual press briefing that was aired through state-run PTV-4, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the Inter-agency Task Force would definitely include the said proposal in one of its future meetings.
According to Roque, they haven’t talked about the said proposal in the IATF yet, adding that he’s sure that it would be part of the agenda in the next IATF meeting.
Roque also said that the government only wanted the public to celebrate Christmas without getting sick.

Roque made the statement after Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba suggested to ban street caroling this Christmas season as a measure against COVID-19.
“Karamihan kasi ng carolers namin dito, they are not even from our place. ‘Yung pagpupunta nila from one house to the other, natatakot kami doon because it might cause the upsurge of COVID cases”, said Mamba.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health had recorded 1,594 newly-reported COVID-19 cases as of 4:00 p.m. of November 5, 2020, bringing the total coronavirus cases in the Philippines to 389,725.
Of these cases, 32,773 were total active cases, 349,543 were total recoveries, and 7,409 were total deaths.
