Northern Luzon Experiences Flooding Due To Heavy Rain Brought by Cold Front’s Tail-End

The cold front’s tail-end brought heavy rains resulting to flooding in Northern Luzon prompting some residents to evacuate.

On Saturday (November 28, 2020), the tail-end of a frontal system brought heavy rains, which caused flooding and a landslide in Northern Luzon. The flooding affects San Mateo, Isabela and displaced 50 families.

The irrigation canal near San Mateo, Isabela reportedly overflowed, which causes flooding in a residential area. A landslide in Mt. Province causes a rescue van from Cagayan to be stranded after struck by rocks and got stranded in mud.

Meanwhile, the authorities are already conducting clearing operations to remove obstacles along the road.

In Tuguegarao, around 40 families flee from their home and evacuate to the nearest evacuation center after the incessant rains causes ankle-deep flooding in the area due to the tail-end of a cold front.

The National Irrigation Administration-Magat River Integrated Irrigation System warned the residents of Northern Luzon to take precautionary measures for possible flooding and landslide after Magat Dam discharge around 800 cubic meters per second of excess water.
