Tomita Kosei, Original Voice Actor Of Doraemon, Dead At 84

Tomita Kosei, the original voice actor of Doraemon, died at the age of 84.

Tomita Kosei, the original voice actor of Doraemon, died due to stroke. This was recently confirmed by his agency Baobab.

In a report on Mashable, Kosei was an 84-year-old voice actor who voiced Doraemon in the original 1973 Doraemon series.

Citing Baobab’s website, The Star reported that Kosei died in the second year of Reiwa (2020) because of stroke.

Quoting Kosei’s agency’s post on their homepage, Mashable reported that Baobab would like to express their deepest gratitude to the public for their kindness.

Based on a report on Mashable, Kosei had voiced Doraemon during the first 13 episodes of the anime series before being replaced by Masako Nozawa.

As per the report, Kosei’s other works include the following: Jirokichi Suzuki from the Detective Conan series, Doctor Watson from the Sherlock Hound series, and Shunsaku Ban in many of Osamu Tezuka’s works.

Moreover, Kosei did different dubbing for English movies — including Rocky and Ocean’s Eight.

However, Kosei wasn’t the first celebrity from the Doraemon franchise to have passed away.

It was last July when Nurhasanah Iskandar, the Indonesia voice actress of Doraemon, died due to stroke. In a report on JUICE, she had been voicing Doraemon since 1993 and took a short break last 2016.

In a separate report, Hiroshi Masuoka — the voice actor of Master Roshi — died due to rectal cancer last March 21, 2020.
