President Rodrigo Duterte’s recorded address to the nation would be aired at 8:00 a.m. of October 27, 2020, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his message that President Duterte was expected to announce the quarantine classification of Metro Manila for November, which was currently under a general community quarantine (GCQ).

On Monday night, President Duterte gathered Cabinet officials anew who were members of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in order to discuss their updates on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines.

The country’s COVID-19 tally had climbed to 371,630 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced 1,607 newly-recorded COVID-19 infections.

Of these, 36,333 were total active cases, 328,258 were total recoveries, and 7,039 were total deaths.

In its October 26 monitoring report, the OCTA Research Group warned of an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the next two weeks amidst the easing of restrictions in the use of public transport.

The experts encouraged the national government to improve and make accessible the criteria that it will use to return Metro Manila and other local government units to more restrictive quarantine levels in order to contain a future surge.
