Storm surge experience of Cherie Gil and Jon Lucas
Cherie Gil and Jon Lucas recounted their experience when a storm surge occurred in Laiya, Batangas, due to typhoon Quinta while they are taping for their show.
In an Instagram post, it is evident that Cherie Gil was nervous about the incident.
It will be recalled that she also experienced a devastating tsunami in Phuket, Thailand on December 31, 2004, in which many people died.
“This is somehow a deja vu or a reminiscent of my experience in Thailand when I was there for the tsunami… I don’t know why I’m being followed by such energy,” said the actress.
Cherie Gil and Jon Lucas were also with Rochelle Pangilinan when the incident occurred.
Jon said it was too late for them to receive a warning about a possible storm surge, and the water also reached where they were staying.
“Kung alam niyo lang po ‘yung kinakainan namin do’n kung saan kami nagka-company call, kung saan kami nagpe-pre prod, sobrang na-wash out. As in sira ‘yung upuan, sira ‘yung mga la mesa. ‘Yung tent po na pinag-i-stay-an namin para sa pagkain nga namin talagang nasira po, bumagsak,” Jon said.
According to the actor, this is one of the times in his life that he felt really nervous.
“Pagkita nga po namin mismo na paparating na po ‘yung mataas na alon papunta po doon sa mismong venue or resort na pinag-i-stay-an namin… Natakot po ako nu’ng nakita ko ‘yun dahil sa YouTube ko lang napapanood ‘yung mga ganu’ng pangyayari tapos biglang nakita ko na mismo,” he added.
