The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 291,789 with over 1,600 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, September 22, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #192 dated September 22, 2020, the Department of Health reported 1,635 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 1,435 out of 1,635 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 291,789.
Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories. However, the Department of Health on Tuesday reported that nine operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 56,097 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #192 dated September 22, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 22 only: Metro Manila with 583 new cases, Cavite with 102 new cases, Iloilo with 97 new cases, Rizal with 67 new cases, and Cebu with 57 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 450 newly-reported recoveries and 50 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 230,643 and coronavirus deaths to 5,049.
