The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines already reached over 129,000 with more than 3,000 new cases, according to the Department of Health on Sunday.

This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of today, August 9, 2020.

According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #148 dated August 9, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,109 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 129,913.

In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Sunday were reported based on the total tests done by 82 out of 99 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 2,055 out of 3,109 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days – from July 27 to August 9.

Other Stories

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 654 new recoveries and 61 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 67,673 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,270.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 59,970 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #148 dated August 9, 2020.

Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 9 only: Metro Manila with 1,700 new cases, Laguna with 169 new cases, Cebu with 114 new cases, Rizal with 98 new cases, and Cavite with 93 new cases.
