It was after the call of the medical community to the government to implement strict quarantine restrictions to save the country’s healthcare system due to the swell of COVID-19 cases.

On Monday night, August 3, Kim posted a video on her Instagram Stories with the caption: “MECQ Back to you. BAWAL LUMABAS, OH BAWAL LUMABAS.”

The term “Bawal Lumabas” became controversial when Kim mentioned it in the online protest of ABS-CBN’s talents on May 8, 2020, in relation to the closure of ABS-CBN on May 5.

Kim Chiu once said: “Sa classroom, may batas. Bawal lumabas. O, bawal lumabas, pero pag sinabi, pag nag-comply ka na bawal lumabas.”

“Pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo yung law ng classroom niyo at sinubmit mo uli, ay puwede na pala ikaw lumabas.”

Meanwhile, starting August 4, Tuesday, Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal were again subjected to MECQ.

It will last until August 18.

Under MECQ, the government will once again restrict the movement of people for fifteen days.

No public transportation on the streets is allowed.

Local government units (LGUs) will re-issue quarantine passes to every family representative who will purchase food and medicine.

Only medical frontliners and people working in essential companies such as supermarkets, banks, and pharmacies are allowed to travel and work.

Domestic flights and domestic travel are also prohibited nor can there be public gatherings for more than five people.
