This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #165 dated August 26, 2020, the Department of Health reported 5,277 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 202,361.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Wednesday were reported based on the total tests done by 95 out of 109 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 4,350 out of 5,277 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 13 to 26.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 65,764 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #165 dated August 26, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 26 only: Metro Manila with 3,157 new cases, Laguna with 403 new cases, Negros Occidental with 304 new cases, Rizal with 237 new cases, and Cavite with 228 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 1,131 newly-reported recoveries and 99 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 133,460 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,137.
