Cavite 7th District Representative Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla was caught on camera doing something as the session-goers sang the Lupang Hinirang or the national anthem of the Philippines.
On Tuesday, ABS-CBN executives faced the congress anew in the 9th session for the Kapamilya Network’s franchise renewal hearing.
Among who attended the said hearing is incumbent Cavite congressman Boying Remulla.

But before the session proper, he was captured on camera doing something while others inside the chamber sang the Philippine national anthem.

As of posting, the video has already generated more than 150,000 views and numerous reactions from the netizens.
Some noted their frustration over the alleged “disrespect” of the Congressman to the Philippine flag.
According to the Official Gazette, it is stated in the Republic Act 8491, Section 38, a Filipino must salute to the flag while the National Anthem in being played.
Section 50 also stated that anyone who violates it can be fined P5,000 to P20,000 or be jailed for up to one year.
It can be recalled that in 2018, 34 people were arrested by the police after failing to honor the National Anthem in a movie theater in Batangas.

Haha..meron sariling batas ang mga nasa kapangyarihan at batas para sa mahihirap. Those people that are defender of the country as they say and knowledgeable of the law is the first offender dahil alam nila kung paano makalulusot sa batas..oh Mahal kong banting Pilipinas..

Apply the Republic Act 8491 section 38 to Congressman Remulla to set an example among the congressme.
Just before Representative Remulla’s turn to rebut during the franchise hearing, he has apologized and promised to ‘pay’ what is due for his gesture and that for me is acceptable. NO BIG DEAL. No wonder, the video was provided by the Kapamilya channel. But that is not an issue, anyway. Well, to both of you (ABS-CBN, Congress) better resolve the real issue with ease and compassion. Humility helps.
