NCMH MEDICAL CHIEF DEATH – Here’s a statement from the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the death of National Center for Mental Health Medical Chief Dr. Roland L. Cortez.
The Department of Health on Monday said in a statement that the DOH was “shocked and alarmed” at the news of the ambush of NCMH Medical Chief Dr. Roland L. Cortez and his driver, Ernesto Dela Cruz, that happened earlier this morning.
In addition, the DOH family extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of Dr. Cortez and Mr. Dela Cruz, adding that they vowed to go after justice for their “untimely deaths”.

Dr. Cortez was described by the Department of Health as a “respected leader” who sought to treat clients with his “utmost dignity”.
The Department of Health was coordinating with authorities as well to the PNP-CIDU in order to ensure that the suspects were prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Moreover, the Department of Health denounced all violent acts that were committed against healthcare workers, especially during the pandemic.

Department of Health’s statement came after the Quezon City Police District Station 3 earlier reported that they died due to a shooting incident.
