Inquirer denounced this Michael V death hoax

Michael V Death Hoax – Inquirer, one of the leading news providers in the Philippine denounced this post about the Kapuso comedian.

These kinds of posts came after the revelation of Michael also known as Bitoy that he tested positive for COVID-19 through his vlog published on July 20.

In his vlog, the comedian shared when he felt the flu-like symptoms, the day he went to the hospital with his wife Carol to take the test, and the days he had to spent alone in a room away from his loved ones.

After that, there were several posts circulating on social media about the alleged death of the Kapuso comedian. Bitoy slammed this and the person who posted this was just “advance mag-isip”, an article from philnews.ph stated.

He also encouraged the public to be vigilant when it comes to fake news. Apparently, even the name of Inquirer was involved in the Michael V death hoax.

On July 21, the official Twitter account of Inquirer.net shared a screenshot of a post showing the headline: “BREAKING NEWS: Aktor na si Michael V BITOY ay Pumanaw na kanina lamang Matapos Hindi Malampasan ang sakit na COVID-19.” At the top part of the post, the link that can be seen was “inquirerupdates.ml”

The news provider denounced this saying that it was manipulated and stressed that this kind of post did not came from them.

“WARNING: The INQUIRER.net did not produce this post. Please be wary of the content you share,” the caption of the post said.

Several fans of the comedian also slammed the death hoax while many has also expressed that they are praying for his fast recovery.
