In a report on AFP News, Twitter said that the Chinese network was detected as it had failed to achieve “considerable traction” but was involved in a range of “manipulative and coordinated” activities.

Moreover, Twitter wrote in its analysis that those accounts in China were tweeting mostly in Chinese languages and spreading their “geopolitical narratives” in favor of the Communist Party of China while continuing to thrust its “deceptive narratives” about political dynamics in Hong Kong.

Also in its analysis, Twitter said that “state-linked” Twitter accounts in Turkey were detected in early 2020, adding that the Turkish network was aimed at boosting its “domestic support” for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling party.

In addition, the Russian accounts were involved in a “cross-posting” and “amplifying” content in its inauthentic and coordinated manner for its political ends — includes promoting ruling United Russia as well as attacking its political protesters.

Twitter’s move to remove “state-linked” accounts came after Twitter, YouTube, Google, and Facebook was banned in China as the Chinese network used its “Great Firewall” in order to censor negative information and to scrub its internet.
