2 Senate employees tested positive for COVID-19

Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III confirmed that two (2) senate employees have been tested positive for COVID-19 or coronavirus disease 2019.

“The persons exposed to the two employees have already passed their 14 days self quarantine,” the senate president said.

The senate has been placed under “semi-lockdown” since they cannot impose a total lockdown due to ongoing hearings and work conducted in the office of the senators.

As of posting, 16 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Senate as per record of Senate’s Medical and Dental Bureau.

Two out of 16 cases are currently active while 13 have already recovered from the dreaded disease with one fatality.

Based on the report of Inquirer.net, Senator Panfilo Lacson earlier noted through a text message that “I think  two or four  cases kaya nag disinfect  yesterday.”

Senators namely Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sonny Angara, and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III have been infected with coronavirus disease but were able to recover.

Last March, one of the staff of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. passed away due to pandemic.

Meanwhile, based on the latest DOH bulletin, the country has recorded 630 additional cases (467- fresh and 163- late cases), 250 new recoveries, and 8 new deaths as of Monday, June 22, 2020.

Based on the record of the country’s health department, the Philippines has now a total of 30,682 confirmed cases with 8,143 recoveries and 1,177 deaths.

  1. May be it’s best to consider temporarily suspending the law on privacy of patients in order to cut short the tracing processes. If the affected person’s identity would be publicly known and his whereabouts during the last few days would be disclosed, then those who have possibly and suspectedly mingled with that person would immediately initiate preventive measures and submit to the nearest lab for proper testing. This would minimize the possible contamination by the suspected infected people. Could it be a simple Executive Order in view of the emergency situation?
