Authorities Warn About Poliovirus Found in Waters in Calamba, Laguna
POLIOVIRUS – The said virus was detected in the waters between two (2) barangays in Calamba, Laguna.
Undeniably, there are a lot of diseases that we can contract if our immunity is weak and the surroundings is not clean. Some are passed around from a person to another person.
There are diseases that can easily be treated while there are those that not curable. Meanwhile, many of these incurable diseases can be prevented through a vaccine.
One of the diseases that is fatal but can be prevented through a vaccine is polio. It is infectious thus parents are advised to have their kids vaccinated against it.
Recently, in Calamba, Laguna, a warning was released to the people after waters between two (2) barangays tested positive for poliovirus.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the water that is positive for poliovirus is between Barangay Bucal and Barangay Halang in Calamba City. According to the local government, the said water is from Pamana Homes going to Laguna de Bay.
According to the report, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) conducted a study on the water and found it positive for the virus. The local government is asking the people not to step on the water or avoid the area for now.
Furthermore, the authorities warned the public to make sure that the drinking water is not contaminated. It urged the people to really heat the water from NAWASA before drinking it.
