Doctor In Davao Oriental Tests Positive For Coronavirus Disease

A resident doctor in Davao Oriental had tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

A resident doctor in Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) had tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

This, as Provincial Task Force COVID-19 Action Officer Dr. Reden Bersaldo said that the said doctor underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab test last May 8 and the result was negative. Bersardo also mentioned that the said doctor went to the dialysis center of an institution in Davao, adding that he came back to DOPMC last May 25 to go on duty.

The said doctor was then subjected to a mandatory reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab test last May 26 in accordance with the standard protocol set by the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19.

In a report on ABS-CBN News, the said doctor had tested positive for coronavirus disease last May 30.

Bersardo also said that the said doctor was healthy, had no fever, and had no cold, adding that his lab test specimen was submitted last May 27 and the result of the said test came out last May 30.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 immediately conducted contact tracing among doctors and nurses who had in contact with an infected doctor. As per the report, 58 doctors and nurses were under quarantine wherein 20 of them were already placed in a home quarantine setup and the remaining 38 were placed in an isolation facility in the province.
