The frontliner cops and OFW were placed in the Ligtas COVID-19 isolation center in Cotabato City for strict monitoring.

In an interview with GMA News and other members of the press, city health chief Doctor Meyasser Patadon said that the two police officers were found positive for COVID-19 based on the rapid testing conducted by the city health office.

Rapid testing for COVID-19 is conducted among 250 personnel of Cotabato City.

“We cannot say that it’s a local contamination yet, we are still tracing and investigating it thoroughly,” the city health chief noted.

The police officers aged 41 and 34 were both assigned in checkpoints and also do usual police works. They were classified as asymptomatic but now in stable condition.

Both are assigned to the same police station but one of them resides in Parang, Maguindanao who travels every other day after shift.

Meanwhile, the other COVID-19 infected patient is an overseas Filipino worker aged 40. She arrived in the city last May 6 via a mercy flight from General Santos City.

“However upon testing as standard protocol before they will be isolated, she was found positive for the virus. She eventually admitted that she is actually a resident of Cotabato City,” said Patadon.

The patient was endorsed to Cotabato City from Maguindanao province for quarantine and treatment.

Cotabato City has recorded 13 COVID-19 cases in the local government and 10 out of the infected have recovered.
