President Rodrigo Duterte, in an address aired on Friday morning, said that there’s no racist background in the Philippines, adding that it’s better that the Filipinos were “really law-abiding“. He was then thinking that if the Philippines had the same situation as to the United States, it may be difficult to enforce lockdown and quarantine.

Although protests were still ongoing in the United States, there might be a possibility that the number of cases of coronavirus disease may rapidly increase. Meanwhile, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Thursday evening (US time) tweeted that he asked those who had protested the death of George Floyd to “receive a test for COVID-19” as protesters didn’t observe physical distancing.

However, the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups earlier accused US President Donald Trump and top officials of violating the constitutional rights of campaigners and individual protesters just because the law enforcement officers in the United States conducted a “coordinated and unprovoked charge” in the crowd of protesters.

As of 01:30 pm. of June 5, 2020, the United States reported 1,924,051 total cases of COVID-19, 110,173 total fatalities, and 712,252 total recoveries.
